Farewell for now...

So according to the voting poll.... it looks like I will not continue to update this site with new blog sales and stores. It's too bad, as I thought this would help so many of you. But it is understandable that you don't want to pay someone to advertise your sale or store. I will keep this site up, I will not shut it down. I may come back to update again in the future\(whether it's going to be free or not) so if you are following this site, continue to do so. That way if and when I decide to work on this site again, you'll know. =)

I do apologize if this causes any inconvenience for anyone, but please understand where I stand on this. Thank you for your cooperation.

If someone wants to pick up and take over, feel free. But you're going to have to make a new blogspot for it. If you do, let me know. That I will post about on here.

Change of Plans

As you may have noticed, I've taken a long hiatus. I do apologize for the absence. I plan on coming back but with a different agenda.

We all know that when I first started this directory, I did it to provide you all with a list of known beauty blog sales and stores. After being up for a month, I found that the work in updating the site became tedious. What with a newborn and my own family life to take care of, I had to put this on the back burner along with my own personal blog.

Don't get me wrong though. I do want to keep this up as I have mentioned before it is definitely a great idea.

For those that follow my personal blog, I am not working at the moment and I personally feel that using up a lot of my time to work on a directory that really doesn't benefit myself is not productive on my part.

I would much rather use that time to be with my family and play my WoW (again, must be a follower of my personal blog to know that I'm a big WoW nerd, lol).

So I decided that if I want to continue this, I am going to have to start charging folks to post up or advertise your blog sale or store. I won't be asking for much, honestly. More along the lines of maybe 5 bucks a month for a blog sale and 10 bucks a month for a blog store. I'm still working out the details. I also plan on a weekly giveaway which will be free listing for that month so you have a chance at free advertising!

It will be free of charge to browse the site for sales and stores of course.

You've seen how I've laid out the site. There are categories that make looking for a particular item or brand a lot easier.

If in fact the directory does go in that direction (paid advertisement), then of course my focus will be to bring more traffic to this site and in turn bring more traffic to your site. In the end, it will definitely help out your sale or store to bring in more money, right?

I am adding a poll to this entry. This poll will determine whether or not I continue this site. Please vote. It will help me to decide. Tell everyone you know to vote if you are a fan of the Directory. I will have the poll up for the next 7 days. It will give me a week to work out the details. Thank you all for your cooperation.

I really do hope you understand where I'm coming from on this subject. I want to do this, but I want to be able to be compensated for my time. Thank you.

Hi all! I am so sorry for the lack of updates. I was preparing for my trip back to my hometown for my 10 year high school reunion.

The reunion last Saturday, but when I woke up the next morning, I wasn't feeling too well. I ended up driving back home to Los Angeles and my symptoms just got worse.

So now I'm stuck here feeling like crap at the moment. I do promise to get things up and running real soon.

Another reason I didn't update much last week is because I switched laptops with my mom and had to re-install on both of them. All of my files I work with for the Directory (including my email client) are on the laptop.

I will be getting my laptop back up and running soon too.

Thank you to all who participated in the Directory's first giveaway. Your help in Spreading the Word has been proven in the numbers I saw on the visitor counter.

The Directory has only been up for 25 days and we average about 140 unique visits and about 300 outbound clicks a day. That's pretty darn good if you ask me. Especially for a blog that just started less than a month ago.

First off, I want to thank everyone, visitors, readers, contributors for making this site happen! I layed out the groundwork, but it's all of you who send in your links and all of you who visit each other's blog sales and stores (and hopefully purchasing from) that make this site really happen.

So basically, to help boost traffic, I'm asking each of you to spread the word by advertising the Directory on your blog and/or Twitter. (Spread the Word) Shoot, I even have a giveaway just to help boost the traffic. I guess you can say that I know this will work and this will be a great resource for everyone. That is why I'm dedicating a lot time and effort into this. I do this for you all! =)

With that said, I want to thank Roxy for being the first to leave feedback. She actually purchased an item from my blog sale and was kind enough to leave me feedback on my Directory page. If you want to see an example of how feedback should be made, check out my Directory post here.

Now this is what we want to do folks. If you purchased something from one of the blog sales or blog stores listed, do us a huge favor and leave some feedback. It will definitely help out the visitors of the Directory. Blog sale/blog store owners remind your buyers to leave feedback.

Now to those that have entered the giveaway, thank you! I actually thank you for "Spreading the Word". I've been watching the visits coming in and there are some sites in which they come in from but the site owner hasn't entered yet. Have you noticed that some of the brands and/or categories you are selling is not listed on your blog sale page? If so, it's because blogger only gives you space for either 20 labels or 200 characters so I had to improvise. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

Other than all of that, what do you guys/gals think of the Directory? Do you have any suggestions or ideas? Do you oppose the way it's set up? If you have your sale/store listed here, have you noticed a boost in traffic to your blog? Have you gained new followers? More importantly, have you sold anything?

"Spread the Word" Giveaway

Wow, I am completely impressed! The Directory has been up only 4 days and we've already reached almost 60 followers on the blog and 62 followers on Twitter.

Like I promised (once we hit 50 followers), here are the details on the Directory's first giveaway. Basically, it's what the title says, Spread the Word.

This giveaway's intention is to stimulate you in spreading the word about this wonderful resource available to beauty blog authors and beauty blog readers.

Please read this whole post before entering the giveaway. Now let's get down to the nitty gritty.

So basically, this is how it's going to be done. I will be using a website/tracker that tracks where our visitors come from. It will tell me which blog/website it is coming from. How you win is by having the most visits come from your blog/website in the given time frame which will be starting from now until July 31, 2009.

BONUS: I've started tracking the day before yesterday so for those that has already advertised the Directory on your blog/website, those visits will count towards your overall number. So yay for those that started spreading the word before this giveaway!

How to Enter:

1. Comment on this post with your website URL or blog URL. (One URL per comment, but you may enter in as many URLs as you want in this giveaway.)

I will also reveal the website/tracker that I've used and provide a screenshot.

For those that didn't win will have a chance at winning a consolation prize just for entering the contest and ultimately spreading the word about the Directory. I will pick one winner from the pool of entries (minus 1st and 2nd place winners) using a random number generator or I might go the old fashion way and do it up raffle style, depending on how many entries we get.

What is the time frame? The contest runs from now until July 31, 2009.

About the Beauty Blog Sale Directory

Welcome to the Beauty Blog Sale Directory.

The directory was created by Kalila as a one stop resource to all blog sales going on. It started in June and was short lived when all of a sudden it was gone. Since it was such a great idea, I (Jaclyn Rose) decided to start one up again in hopes to help both buyers and sellers.

You can shop for blog sales and blog stores in many ways. On the side bar, sale links will be categorized by Brand, Category and Type.

This will be your one stop blog for a list of beauty blog sales, stores and contests going on in the beauty blogging world.
